Frequently asked questions

How Canvas Creations approaches an occasion, from the first conversation through to delivery.

Answers

01

What does Canvas Creations do?

We create and deliver experiences around a clear idea.

That can mean shaping the creative direction, designing the guest experience, developing the event environment, coordinating production, or bringing the whole thing together from first conversation to final delivery. The starting point is always the same: understand what the event needs to achieve, who it is for, and what you want people to take away from it.

02

What types of events does Canvas Creations work on?

We work across events where the experience matters as much as the logistics.

That includes corporate events, brand experiences, launches, celebrations, conferences, cultural and community events, and other occasions that need more thought than simply putting people in a room.

If you already have an event in mind, the best way to understand whether we're the right fit is to tell us what you're trying to create.

03

Can Canvas Creations manage an event from concept through to production?

Yes. We can be involved from the very beginning or come in when the idea already exists.

Depending on the project, that might include creative development, experience design, venue considerations, production planning, supplier coordination and delivery on the day.

We don't believe every project needs the same model, so we'll work out the right role with you rather than forcing everything into a fixed package.

04

Can you work with our existing event team, agency or suppliers?

Absolutely.

You may already have a venue, agency, production company, internal events team or trusted suppliers. There is no need to start again simply because Canvas is coming into the project.

We can take responsibility for a defined part of the work, provide creative direction, or work alongside the people already involved. The important thing is knowing who owns what and making sure the pieces work together.

05

How does the Canvas Creations process work?

It starts with a conversation, not a production schedule.

We want to understand the purpose of the event, the people you're bringing together, the setting, the practical constraints and what you want the experience to achieve.

From there, we shape the idea and work through what it means in the real world: the environment, the guest journey, the program, the production and the details that make the experience feel considered.

The level of involvement depends on what you need from us.

06

How early should we involve Canvas Creations?

Earlier is usually more useful, particularly when the experience itself is still being shaped.

Creative decisions can affect the venue, layout, program, production requirements, suppliers and the way guests move through the experience. Bringing those conversations together early gives us more room to make the right decisions rather than working around decisions that have already been locked in.

That said, we also work with projects that are already well underway.

07

How much does an event with Canvas Creations cost?

There isn't a meaningful one-size-fits-all price.

The cost depends on what you're creating. The type and scale of the event, the audience, the venue, creative direction, production requirements, suppliers, location and timeframe all have an impact.

We'd rather understand the brief first and build a considered scope around it than give you a number that doesn't mean much.

08

Can Canvas Creations help us work within a defined budget?

Yes. A budget is useful information, not something we need to work around in the dark.

Knowing what you have available helps us make better decisions about where to invest and where to keep things simple. The aim isn't to add more for the sake of adding more. It's to put the available budget behind the parts of the experience that matter most.

09

Can you help us find or assess a venue?

We can help think through whether a venue is right for the experience you're trying to create.

That goes beyond capacity and availability. We look at things such as how people arrive and move through the space, what the environment allows creatively, production and technical considerations, access, operational requirements and whether the venue supports the feeling you're trying to create.

If you've already chosen a venue, we can work within it too.

10

How does Canvas Creations approach culturally diverse audiences?

We start with the audience rather than adding cultural elements at the end.

Different communities can have different expectations around language, food, music, storytelling, representation, participation, accessibility and the way an experience is presented.

The right approach depends on the people you're trying to reach and the purpose of the event. Where appropriate, we also recognise when cultural knowledge or specialist expertise should come from people with genuine understanding of that community.

11

Can you create events for multicultural or culturally diverse audiences?

Yes, where the brief calls for that understanding.

A culturally diverse audience isn't a single audience, and there isn't a formula that works for everyone. We look at the communities involved, the context of the event and what meaningful engagement actually looks like.

The goal is to create something people can genuinely connect with, not simply add a few familiar cultural references and call it inclusive.

12

How do you make sure an event feels authentic rather than tokenistic?

It starts with relevance.

If a cultural element has no meaningful connection to the audience, the purpose or the story of the event, it probably doesn't belong there.

Good cultural thinking considers the whole experience, from language and representation through to food, music, storytelling, participation, accessibility and the people involved in shaping it. Authenticity comes from understanding and respect, not decoration.

13

What if we already have the strategy or creative concept?

That's completely fine.

Sometimes the strategic thinking is already done. Sometimes the creative idea is locked. Sometimes you simply need someone to turn a good idea into an experience that can actually be delivered.

We can enter at different points in the process and focus on where you need us most.

14

How do you manage the detail and risk involved in delivering an event?

The creative idea has to survive contact with reality.

That means thinking through the practical details as the project develops: venue requirements, production, suppliers, access, schedules, audience movement, technical needs, responsibilities and what needs to happen on the day.

The exact approach depends on our role in the project, but clarity matters throughout: who is responsible for what, what needs to happen when, and where the potential problems are before they become problems.

15

What should I include when I contact Canvas Creations?

Don't worry about having a perfectly written brief.

Tell us what you're trying to achieve, what you're planning, when and where it's happening, who the audience is, what you've already confirmed, and anything you already know about budget or production.

If there are particular cultural, accessibility or stakeholder considerations, include those too.

Most importantly, tell us what you're trying to solve. That's often more useful than a long list of requirements.

Start with the idea. We'll work through the rest together.
